Greenland – 2020 – Action, Thriller, Disaster
Directed by: Ric Roman Waugh
Written by: Chris Sparling
Main Players: Gerard Butler; Morena Baccarin; Scott Glenn; Roger Dale Floyd

Greenland offers an exciting time, full of tension and the dread of impending apocalyptic doom. As a comet is discovered well on its way to destroying most of the planet’s surface life, the government sends out calls to its most important citizens. If these selected few can make it to air force bases, they have a chance at relocating to underground bunkers in Greenland.
While this lower budget “B” movie may appear to be fairly run-of-the-mill, it is fully worth your time and superior to most bigger budget affairs. In typical disaster movie fashion, the tension is derived from a potential doomsday scenario and an attempt to outrun it. The script for this film turned out to be above average, and helps drive an above average family end-of-the-world thriller.
Gerard Butler picked a very solid role in this film, and delivers a strong protective dad performance. Paired with Morena Baccarin who always does a great job, the duo navigate an apocalyptic scenario in an attempt to keep their son safe and family together.
While some of the story beats are exaggerated to further heighten tension, overall, this movie is a fairly stark and realistic portrayal of a devastating situation. The actors give it their best, and bring out a lot from this lower budget movie.
