One Of Them Days

Roomies Dreux (Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA) have mere hours before their rent is due. See, they thought they paid their strict landlord, however Alyssa’s lazy good for nothing bum ass booty call Keshawn (Neal) apparently absconded with the check instead of delivering it. Oops.

Enter a plethora of shenanigans as the girls must battle crime lords, sneaker collectors, bank officers, drive-thrus and more in order to find a way to make some cash and save their asses from eviction. Plus, it’s job interview day for the capable Dreux, who has been overlooked for promotions for far too long. Maybe this is the day, as long as things don’t get too out of hand.

The general vibe is fun and silly in the right ways. There are some slick jokes and quick lines slipped into most every situation, and some clever humor. Both Keke Palmer and SZA’s acting chops help realize some very fun characters to hang out with for the day. They truly feel like lifelong friends, both bickering yet supportive. There could be a follow up to this movie about basically nothing and just follow the stars around, and it’d still be okay most likely.

There are a few solid cameos and the general cast is good. Kick back and enjoy the time, and watch out for those tumbleweaves!!
