Struggling boxer and bodyguard Bobby (Favreau) is looking to make some additional money and upgrade his lowly street status. He and “pal” Ricky (Vaughn) take a small-time job for the local crime boss (Falk), agreeing to fly to New York and await instruction. The pair immediately feel validated by the upgrade in responsibility and look to make a name for themselves.
The two newly minted gangsters dive deep into the criminal underground, mostly oblivious to the danger surrounding them. Will they make a good impression for the boss? Will they ever follow instructions? Can Ricky ever shut the fuck up?
Made is an interesting experience. The first time viewing this, it may do nothing but make you squirm in your seat over the non-stop verbal diarrhea provided by Ricky, as the more restrained Bobby tries to clean up his friend’s spewing messes and keep the pair out of the crosshairs. A second viewing when one knows what they are in for can allow for a bit more of an enjoyable experience and a tad less squirming.
There are many very good bit roles and cameos, however one actor/rapper has unfortunately tainted his legacy forever by being a gigantic piece of shit, so we’ll pass on mentioning him further. See the movie anyway, especially if you can handle extremely awkward comedy.
