Bug Movie Poster

Based on a play and adapted for the screen by the playwright, Bug is a deep dive into psychosis. What begins as a drama about a lonely waitress Agnes (Judd) in a cheap motel avoiding an abusive ex Jerry (Connick Jr.) turns into a tale of pure insanity. Agnes meets a fellow lonely soul named Peter (Shannon), and the pair find some common ground.

What happens next starts to blur reality, as the characters begin to share a possible delusion as truth and sensibility go out the door. The characters are wounded from their respective pasts, but they are happy to find some solace in each other. This bond however is threatened by extreme paranoia and a growing shared psychosis.

This film is not for most people. It has phenomenal performances; however, it is also creepy, and downright gross at times. It studies all sorts of human condition, mental disorder, and scarring from life events. For those looking for a decently horrific time and are able to stand a slow burn, check this movie out. It is very well done for what it is. Bug is absolutely bonkers, and offers cringe inducing gore and extreme performance wildness.

There are two quick scenes in the end credits, both of which add additional interpretation to the possibilities and reality of the story.

I do not have too many films that I can accurately compare this to, the below are loose.
