Last Stop In Yuma County Xlg

A man (Cummings) in a small beater car pulls up to a small gas station in the Arizona desert. Five of the pumps are dry, but a fuel truck is on the way, per station owner Vernon (Love). There is a diner, but the man elects to wait in his car. Then he sees the sign “You’ll die for our rhubarb pie!”

A Sheriff (Abbott, Jr.) pulls up and lets out his waitress wife Charlotte (Donahue) who opens up the restaurant for business, and the cop car takes off. The man in the car flips on his radio and catches a quick story about a bank robbery and a green Pinto, and then finds some tunes.

Enter a green Pinto driving along the highway. And a crashed red classic pickup truck down an embankment. Well, our main man in the car finally gets tired of music and heads inside as he is hungry enough. Charlotte offers coffee. Our man is needing to get to his daughter’s birthday over in Carlsbad, California. He happens to be a knife salesman, but not many are buying these days despite his travels.

Too bad his day is going to go a bit nutty and knife sales won’t be his top concern. Maybe some rhubarb pie is in order though, as he hasn’t tried that before. He makes small talk with Charlotte, and then things get crazy as a green Pinto pulls up to the dry gas station. This one looks like it has a pair of dangerous men inside, as Beau (Blake) and Travis (Logan) consider their options and eye the diner. But wait, there’s more… other parties happen to be on the way to the small restaurant too…

The Last Stop in Yuma County is a decent little crime thriller full of wacky characters and wild situations. Not everything is what it seems and the story unfolds with some interesting twists. There is some dark humor and all of the cast does a great job bringing their characters to life, no matter how extreme they are. A bunch of solid plot lines converge together in surprising ways, and the results are a decent time. I could have handled even wilder and funnier story beats at times, but there is plenty to keep it entertaining during its quick runtime.
