Ever wonder what your pet is staring at in the corner of your room, intently sure there is something amazing to look at, yet you see literally nothing at all? Well, maybe it’s because there’s a fucking demon in the room with you and your dog or cat or lizard is like “ARE YOU SEEING THIS, HUMAN?!?!?!”
Indy (Indy) stars as Todd’s (Jensen) awesome pet. As Todd’s grandfather has passed, his dark dank creepy ass house in the woods is in need of repairs. No one else has been able to stay at it, saying it is haunted. Always a fun time. So, Todd rolls in, ready to make a new home for himself. The dog is reluctant, sensing odd and ominous presences. Dark shadows creep out of corners, and something… is there.
An isolated and spooky old home is a natural setting for a creeper flick. Will Indy be able to warn his owner of impending issues? Or, will Todd just fall in love with the surrounding woods, and focus on repairing the home while darkness descends upon him? Gotta say the human characters are not very interesting or even sympathetic, but whatever, the dog is the star.
The most impressive part of this film is the smart dog, and how well he was able to be captured on film. Much training must have occurred, but it all feels very natural as it plays out. The dog moves and acts as if fully making its own decisions, despite following the film’s plot. Camera angles are well planned, and mostly present a “dog’s-eye-view” or general perspective. It can be a bit creepy for sure, but probably won’t make you poop your fur. Be brave like Indy, and check it out, though the ending may leave some wanting.
This is a creative thriller, and fun time overall. Lovers of dogs will enjoy the awesome animal. Short and sweet, this film should be watched. Alright, Indy, guard the house!
