Time Travel Is Dangerous

Oh, hello there. Welcome to the leafy north London suburb of Muswell Hill. The people have a love of the past and an unshakable belief in the future. However… here comes a series of extraordinary events! A vintage shop ‘Cha Cha Cha’ is run by Ruth (Syratt) and Megan (Stevenson) they sell any retro things that they can get their hands on. Whatever catches their eye hits the shelves.

A month ago, they found this ‘thing’ outside by the trash bins, which looked like a school go-cart project or something. When messing around with it, they wound up in 1945. All of a sudden, stocking vintage items becomes so much easier!! They are not scientifically minded ladies, but they blast to the past with reckless abandon, grabbing whatever they see and can carry back to the future with them.

Medieval swords, disco balls, exotic clothing and anything portable is absconded with by these ladies, who don’t consider it stealing, as they don’t stick around long enough to find out what happens. This process really cuts the costs on their shop, as items are way cheaper in the past, where it’s free for them. For a good six years they jampack their store with items.

This wonderful setup leads to the ladies eventually being invited to Muswell Hill Science Club, which is full of inventors sharing their ideas, and is wildly full of secrecy. As clouds swirl above these ladies in ominous patterns, they begin to consider the dangers of their journeys through the ages, only ever so briefly, as it’s relatively impossible to run a vintage store in this day and age without a time machine.

Will they find the creator of this time machine, Ralph? (Yes) Will they continue to ignore all warnings of danger? (Yes) Will they wind up finding all sorts of new cutting-edge mechanics for this machine? (yes) Will computers ever find a way to DESTROY HUMANS… at chess? (Yes) Is time travel actually dangerous? (Yes) Find out the unknown answers to these questions, and more!!

This film is told sort of à la a mockumentary as the ladies, and others, speak to the camera and give updates as scenes go on. Jokes are relatively non-stop. Silly events play out left and right. Creativity spews out through the script’s pages and onto the screen. It is a lot of fun and for me the levels of quirk fully worked.

Come check out the bargains at Cha Cha Cha, there is no way you won’t find something special, just watch out for the event horizon.
