As production executive Benjamin Oliver (Lowe) and his girlfriend watch late-night TV, eventually they dial through public access Wayne’s World. Party Time!!! Extreme Close-Up! Totally Amazing Excellent Discoveries!! These days no one will know what public access shows even are, but for those with enough age they will remember all about the bonkers shenanigans of those shows.
Ever wanted to know more about the Suck-Cut, a revolution in home hair-cutting technology? How does it work? Maybe you don’t want to know. As hosts of the show, Wayne Campbell (Myers) and Garth Algar (Carvey) cover all sorts of topics on their show, which is filmed in Wayne’s basement.
Let me bring you up to speed. Wayne lives in Aurora, Illinois. It is a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. He has an extensive collection of name tags and hairnets, and still lives with his parents, which is bogus and sad. But at least he still knows how to party. What he dreams of though, is to do Wayne’s World for a living. He knows monkeys are more likely to fly out of his butt.
He kicks it with best bud Garth and pals Terry and Alan, and even partied-out Phil, as long as he doesn’t honk in the car. They jam out some serious Queen as they drive which revives Phil a bit. So where is any of this going? Well not many really special places, but it’s still a fun comedy. The characters break the 4th wall, or at least some of them do, which brings a fun way of drawing in the audience as part of the show.
Will Wayne’s dreams of pricey guitars and turning his show into the big-time wind up materializing or will the pair of buddies get caught up in the sensationalism of fame? The quality on this one is good enough to get some laughs, and silly enough for a few more. While it won’t win many awards, it is mostly well put together and works just fine for a short and sweet dorky comedy. Watch out for body cavity searches, inside and out. Oh, and also the psycho hose-beast.
