As Kevin, aka Stretch (Wilson), narrates an old boy meets girl opening, it is love at first sight with Candace (Decker). A year later and despite Stretch being ready to propose, Candace has found someone else. Yet another year later, and the man’s spirits are in the absolute dumpster, along with his paychecks.
While he came to Los Angeles to become an actor, for work he drives a limo while waiting for any role to land. He hates it. He hates the hours. He hates the clients. With no money, power or women, he is totally bummed out. Stretch is finally ready to turn his life around, and get it in gear.
Limo dispatcher Charlie (Alba) at least looks out for him, and his boss Nasseem (Toub) tells him to get the fire back and stop clients from being stolen by competition. On this same day, Stretch’s gambling debt has been bought by a new bookie, and his full balance of $6,000 is due that night. The enforcers which tell him this makes him later for his first run of the day, picking up David Hasselhoff (Himself). Now the Hoff is just angry…
As Kevin looks to scrape up cash and provide amazing limo service, the pressure is on. Join him on today’s absolutely wild ride into the unknown. Can he get his life back in shape and save his kneecaps from being broken over gambling debt? Will he ever break into Hollywood? Will he ever find another woman to love?!
Stretch is a solid action crime comedy and light satire with a Hollywood backdrop. It is fairly unpredictable, and while every beat may not be perfect, the entertainment value is there. The cast is solid and there are some okay cameos which were probably fun for the actors. The directing is mostly energetic and there is enough script spontaneity to keep it interesting throughout its short runtime.
"Hey, can I ask you, what do you, what do you get out of punching yourself in the face?"
