Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass – Review

A lasagna’s level of comedic layering is presented in Gail Daughty and the Celebrity Sex Pass. Want a comedic parody spoof of Hollywood, relationships, life and sex? There is likely one path you are now following, which is the same one as Gail Daughtry (Deutch), who has long-time fiancé Tom Soursap McNoodleman (Cassidy) ready to marry finally. The pair is deliriously in love, and spout off sickeningly horrific lovey-dovey lines.

As the concept of a Celebrity Sex Pass enters their atmosphere, Tom meets Jennifer Aniston at a book signing that Gail drags him to. As Tom flips his sex pass from Tilda Swinton over to Jen, Gail finally picks hers. She would smash the hell out of John Hamm. So, things get crazy fast, and Gail begins her mission to take a dicking from JDH. As she rolls into Hollywood, all bets are off.

Gail Daughty and the Celebrity Sex Pass is a funny and goofy time all around. Packed to the gills with excellent people and both clever and stupid humor, the film chugs along dumping waves of ridiculousness at the viewer as if in the splash zone of Sea World. Is Sea World still a thing? I think there was some documentary about that or something.

Focal point Zoey Deutch is always a pleasure. Her group of yellow brick road followers that form on her quest to bag John Hamm are a varied collection of entertaining personalities. There are too many good people in general to point out, but the whole cast clearly had plenty of fun with the parody levels and typical comedic elements of an overly zany film.

Director/Co-Writer David Wain typically spoofs life, along with his cast and cohorts, and in this case Actor/Co-Writer Ken Marino. This group has all worked together on all sorts of projects, and those familiar with most any of these people’s works will know many of the others involved. First time through was quite funny, it may even get better as it seasons with repeat viewings.
