Another Forty Eight Hours Xlg

Despite the same director, a rougher script makes Another 48 Hrs. only okay. If you want more of the same characters as the first and a few plotline continuations then check it out, as long as you expect a lesser story than the original.

This sequel welcomes back Jack Cates (Nolte) who is hunting a drug boss named Iceman. After a scrap with some thugs, Jack winds up in some legal crosshairs, and some muddy waters. Jack’s Iceman case has been his focus for a while, but the trouble is the rest of his unit, including Internal Affairs, do not know of his existence and there is no concrete evidence.

Coincidentally, Jack makes a connection from Iceman to his hold pal Reggie Hammond (Murphy) who is finally getting out of prison after some additional troubles. So, after eight years in prison, Reggie is back on the streets, but Jack is already after him looking for help with Iceman.

Another 48 Hrs. does touch on a few plots from the first, and tries to do a new story and adventure to pair up Jack and Reggie, however it’s just a bit “lesser” than the first in most all ways. I like the cast, but the plot only goes so far. The acting is fine, but people do seem less excited to be there. It’s not the end of the world and there is some fun to be had as long as expectations are not set too high. Fans of the original should watch it once at least, but it’s not one to go back to a lot.
