Mild and constrained Conor (Sweeney) works in an office crunching numbers by day and going home to his smoking hot wife Kristina (Wordsworth) to hold hands and watch Antiques Connoisseurs before sleeping by night. He never takes chances, and is too “square” to try new things, both personality traits which are putting his marriage and promotion at work in jeopardy.

As his wife will be gone for the weekend, Conor decides it’s time to roll the dice and take some chances as he finds himself inexplicably drawn to a late-night commercial on TV promising an amazing party time with Frankie Freako, a little red gremlin-esque demon fella. What happens next, even if described, won’t do it justice. Shabbadoo!

Frankie Freako is an homage or throwback to wild and zany 80s movies, including Gremlins, Beetlejuice and even a biiiit of Ghostbusters. It is far more silly than sci-fi/horror, but it does have a touch of gross-out practical effects to balance out the ridiculous story and physical comedy.

This film’s mileage will likely vary for each particular viewer, but if you find yourself vibing with its humor then you are guaranteed to have a great time. Pop a FART cola and settle in for a quick rip through an acid-trip version of an 80s flick.
