Green Room Ver2 Xlg

This is one slick and mean little movie. Such a simple premise, yet totally horrific situation. A traveling punk rock band, Ain’t Rights, are on tour in the Pacific Northwest: tired, hungry and poor. Pat (Yelchin), Sam (Shawkat), Reece (Cole) and Tiger (Turner) hear about a possible gig after the last one came up short, and decide to hit one last concert before siphoning gas to head home, in hopes of getting a tiny bit of traveling cash.

The show in question happens to be deep in Oregon’s scenic and forested region opening for a metal band, which also happens to be more than flirting with the neo-Nazi flavor. Our young punk band heroes are out to make a name for themselves as hardcore, and head to the show with good intentions. Tensions begin to rise a bit based on the animosity of the people at the show.

As the night takes a dark turn, a sense of impending doom settles over the film and it becomes clear that life can change in an instant. The violence runs strong in this movie, but for those that are in for the thrills, there are plenty of those running through the veins.

Stellar acting exudes from the cast, young and old. Slick direction, heavy tension and a dark sense of reality puts this one ahead of the usual entries. The runtime zips by and it is an excellent thriller.

What’s your desert island band?
