Happy Death Day Xlg

College sorority princess Tree Gelbman (Rothe) goes about her days as any hot, young, self-centered asshole would do. She parties, dates, complains, bitches about her friends, mocks the other abstract/non-popular kids, and ultimately disregards anything that makes her think of her mother’s untimely death. Today is her birthday, and despite her mother having shared her same birthday, she is determined to have a good time. Unfortunately for her, there is a psycho slasher on the loose, and she is in his crosshairs.

What may appear to be a fairly average horror movie story is flipped on its head with some absurdly fun plot mechanics. While this mechanic is not at all new, it fully enhances the wackiness of this very fun horror comedy. I will keep it light here just in case you have no idea what this movie's plot really is.

The zany script gives the actors many chances to portray their characters in different lights, and even grow significantly throughout the process. While the main plot mechanic may be seen as a bit tired by some viewers, the outright creativity in this film keeps it moving along at a fast clip, with jokes and fun aplenty. This horror comedy does not focus on the gore, and instead gives plenty of character development and surprise.

Don’t let the horror elements turn you off from this film, or its just as good sequel. They are both super fun and mostly harmless affairs.
