I will leave this one pretty short – best to keep it mostly to the movie. So, this is Comedy and Dark Comedy? Yes, and yes. This features a typical comedy set-up with couples’ brunch and a new boyfriend heading to join his girlfriend’s seasoned group. Awkward hijinks ensue, however then the plot kicks in and the story takes a turn for the worse. It’s hard to talk about the movie without a certain plot reveal, but let’s just go with the title “It’s a Disaster” is accurate.
How do all these brunch couples, old and new, react to the new situation? Well, there’s the Dark Comedy portion, which drives the latter 2/3rds of the movie. Everyone here, male or female, really nail their roles. All sorts of personality types are represented by the bickering couples, and the jokes run aplenty.
The cast does a great job with their characters, which are all believable with a hint of comedic exaggeration. While it’s all one-location, the plot never gets boring and the jokes keep flying despite the overall plot. Come for the brunch, stay for the doomsday.
