My Daughter Is A Zombie Xlg

A worldwide zombie plague breaks out. Yikes! Transmitted by biting, chaos hits the streets of South Korea. Lee Jeong-hwan (Jo Jung-suk) works as a tiger trainer at the local zoo, but he cannot hide his love for dance. In fact, he works pretty hard at getting the tiger, Tae-rang, to dance along to Michael Jackson with him. Results are… iffy.

Back home, it is his daughter Jeong-hye’s birthday. She’s making dance videos herself, and is bummed that her father has left his own dancing past behind. Their fairly spectacular house cat Meowmeow watches TV with reckless abandon, and is not whelmed by the breaking news report of a virus spreading in Gangnam. As cake and gifts hit, so does the plague.

As the father and daughter duo try to creatively escape the issue, unfortunately Jeong-hye catches some teeth to her arm, and begins to change. But this father is not going to give up on his daughter!! Maybe… just maybe there is some recognition still with her zombie daughter. The power of dance, and learning might be able to get her back on track. She still has an appetite after all.

Now Jeong-hwan must do all that he can to bring his daughter back from the zombie abyss, with the help of his friend Cho Dong-bae (Yoon Kyung-ho) and his pushy mother Kim Bam-soon (Lee Jeong-eun). Oh, and Meowmeow of course. But, what happens when he runs into his zombie hating childhood crush, Shin Yeon-hwa (Cho Yeo-jeong)?! More complications!

My Daughter Is a Zombie is a pretty zany time. While it does indeed contain zombies, it is not scary and uses the concept in clever and funny ways. The dialogue is pretty good, the script full of goofy moments, and the themes of family and zombie rehabilitation work well. The cat is also super dope. With a decent enough story and a silly enough cast, the results are a cohesive comedy of the dead.

This film is based on a South Korean comic and webtoon series.
