My Old Ass Ver2 Xlg

My Old Ass tells the unusual tale of Elliott (Stella) who is on her last few days of time at home with her family and friends before she goes off to the city. She was raised on a cranberry bog/farmland in a remote area in Canada, and despite the beautiful countryside and lake, she absolutely cannot wait until she can be a part of society and the hustle of a larger population.

Out camping with her besties Ro (Brooks) and Ruthie (Ziegler), Elliott and pals all consume mushrooms, looking to appropriately trip ballos. While Ro and Ruthie begin having their own drug infused ordeals, Elliott is disappointed that nothing much is working, until all of a sudden, she realizes she is sitting on the log next to her older self, a 39-year-old Elliott (Plaza).

Elloitt and Elliott have a good conversation, which kicks off an adventure of self-discovery in all sorts of new ways. When the evening is over, the Elliott girls are forever altered. As young Elliott tries to reconcile with the event, she meets a young boy named Chad (White), of whom she was warned against by her future self.

What I went in for was maybe a silly and fun comedy with a good premise. What I got was just so much more. Hanging out with Elliott is an absolute blast, and Maisy Stella is a very big part of that. She certainly got a pretty killer script to work with, but she brings the right emotional balance to all aspects of the younger Elliott. Aubrey Plaza is always good, and is especially touching in this movie also.

Despite appearing to be just a zany comedy with an odd premise, My Old Ass goes deep on introspection and reality. This creates a very fun poignant time that almost any viewer can connect with. Come hang with the Elliott girls, as My Old Ass is a great time with an impressive and wise script with strong direction from creator Megan Park.
