Primal Fear Xlg

This slick legal/courtroom thriller sees high profile defense attorney Martin Vail (Gere) taking on a pro bono client (Norton) accused of violently murdering a local archbishop. Featuring an all-star cast, including Edward Norton in one of his first roles, the well-paced script will keep viewers glued to the screen as the winding plot unfolds.

What appears to be an open and shut case for city prosecutor Janet Venable (Linney), the situation may not always be what it seems, and a fiery past with Vail puts the two attorneys at odds over the shocking murder. Part courtroom drama, part investigative thriller, the pieces come together succinctly in their Chicago backdrop setting.

It remains enthralling as it introduces multiple related plotlines, all while following the trial of a horrific killing, and its main suspect. This is one where the less you know, the better time can be had from viewing the film. Featuring a great cast and sound direction, it should not be missed.

Overall, Primal Fear is a twisty legal flick with some smartly executed plot points and absolutely excellent performances. Themes of murder are mixed with greed, lust, pride, envy, and wrath. This will fill the bucket for those that like courtroom procedurals, as well as investigative deep dives.
