As we open, news chatter recapping a deadly event, virus, and building quarantine plays out. This film also abandons the point-of-view camera perspective, as the military storms the apartment complex and sets explosive charges on multiple floors.

As the squad looks to exit, disturbing noises are heard. It’s time to leaaaaaave. Get outta the apartment. Too late. Incoming blood crazed demon zombies!! The rules are if you are bitten, you aren’t making it out. The men are finally on the way out when… a cry for help from floors above. A lone officer goes back to find… Ángela Vidal (Velasco)!

Sometime later, Ángela wakes in a medical room, tied to a bed to stop any inadvertent damage to anyone, and let doctors easily examine her possible progressions. When asked, she has no recollection of the recent events at the apartment. She asks where she is…

The terror has shifted setting yet again, but as we all suspect with a 4th movie in most any series, we know what is likely coming. How effective is the film, and how is the story? Well for me it is creepier and better than the rocky part 3, and a bit more focused.

The story is not quite as resounding a finish as I would like after the excellent first and solid second, but at least it focuses on furthering the story and mythology surrounding prior events. Ángela is an interesting focus in this film again, and she gets to do some different things than the first couple movies. As usual, it is fairly gory, but the claustrophobic setting makes for an okay film, albeit it all is a tad more generic than the first two
