The Childe Poster

A Korean actioner full of some interesting ideas, The Childe features Marco Han (Kang Tae-Ju), a half Filipino and Korean arena fighter/boxer, who is struggling to get by especially as his mother takes ill. His lifelong search for his Korean father has come up empty, however he winds up pulled into an odd conspiracy that reignites this desire.

Hoping to save his mother, and learn about his father, Marco heads to Korea only to get mixed up with multiple nefarious characters. He is pursued by a mysterious and dangerous villain (Kim Seon-ho), and has to use any means possible to survive. The film’s plot twists have some fun elements, even if many of them are left ultimately unexplored.

While this movie leans heavier into action than into the script details, I enjoyed some of the wacky characters, and the chases, gunplay and explosions were well all done. With much more good than bad, this one is worth a look and has a few fun surprises. The actors did a great job and there are hints at other interesting ideas and plots.
