Based on true story about a string of robberies and terror attacks in the U.S. Pacific Northwest during the 1980s, The Order focuses on the agents looking to take down a white supremacist group. What begins as a series of bombings, robberies and bank hits throughout Idaho, Washington and Oregon spirals into building for all-out war.
An even more extreme splinter group of the KKK dubbed “The Order” has their sights on their six-step plan. Following a manifesto novel, the radicals want money, an army, and then to inflict terror and take their country back for the whites, and for God. This would require overthrowing the Federal Government, so of course heaps of cash is the initial goal.
On the trail is FBA agent Terry Husk (Law), who begins his journey in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho by looking into white supremist groups. He connects with a local deputy Bowen who knows of a compound nearby which is likely counterfeiting money. Bowen begins connecting dots between recent bombings, attacks and bank robberies and the pair hits the trail of the criminals.
Leading the extremists is Bob Matthews, a “family” man having a baby outside his marriage, and convincing the simple minded to join his revolution. The movie covers a real story with an unflinching and unsympathetic approach. The bad guys are bad, and their motivations are evil.
There is a strong cast all around, and most characters are given enough to do even if only on screen for short times. There is tension and action, and the script is sharp and focused. While this is a story set in the past, unfortunately some of the terrorist propaganda, mentality and behavior still feels all too prevalent today.
