Time Trap Xlg

As professor Hopper (Wilson) walks up to an old hippie van, he rubs some dirt off the window, looking inside. He slides the vehicle door open, and finds an odd bag with some trinkets, and a book. Inside the book are drawings and sketches as well as a picture of a family. Hopper is unsure what to make of it, and returns to his hike with his dog, Boss. He is out there looking for “lost hippies” that went for the fountain of youth. The land is not traveled often, but Hopper is used to the terrain.

His internal dialogue states that the future can give you anything you want, if you wait long enough. The answer is always in the future, whether through technology, or the diminishing of your desire. Hopper next finds a hold in the ground; however, Boss is skittish. Looking up onto a small hill, he spots something odd: another opening. He flashes his light inside, and appears to see a man standing there, motionless. He calls out “Hello” but gets no response. Seeing the man has an old holstered six-shooter, he leaves immediately, unnerved.

When home, his archeology students Taylor (McClendon) and Jackie (Howey) are waiting for him, expecting to go out with him on his expedition. Hopper decides against taking them along, knowing something seems off with the land and the cave. Back he goes on his own, with Boss of course. He puts a rope down into the ground hole below, and climbs back up to the odd cave entrance. The man is still there…

What is going on?! Two days later, Taylor wakes up Jackie, as Hopper has gone missing and there is no signal in the area. Jackie calls Cara (Gifford), looking for an offroad vehicle. Taylor offers something that will get Cara an A in the class guaranteed, if the Jeep is usable. Cara brings her half-sister Veeves (Draguicevich) along. Veeves also decides to video-document the trip, and reminds the group to not forget their younger compatriot Furby (Wright), and a crew is formed.

Time Trap is extremely low budget, and some of the acting may throw you off a bit as it is not as seasoned as most films. That being said, the ideas presented are pretty good, and it’s worth a watch despite of any shortcomings. The runtime is short, and when the plot finally gets going it is pretty solid. So, have a sunny day and find a lost hippie van! Just watch out for the cave…
