Tales From The Crypt Xlg

Based on a few series of comics from around the 1950s, this film adaptation delivers an anthology of five short macabre tales. Instead of diving into any of the shore story subject matter, let’s just talk film aspects. Sit, all of you, please sit down. I assure you, I have a purpose.

So, it’s a 70s British film, but it’s still not too stuffy, campy, slow or lame. Sets look okay, acting is decent and within minutes there is a hint of intrigue. Then, tales kick off, and hey, it’s a Christmas tale! Maybe this qualifies as a holiday movie then. Sure, why not.

The stories themselves are appropriately dark, but contain some nice thriller, horror or mystery elements to bolster them. Guessing where things will truly go is part of the fun, and all bets are off. The cast has some nice surprises hidden within also, and the runtime is short. Join the Cryptkeeper (Richardson) and enjoy the horrific tales of madness contained within.

“Well, there’s no way out of here. Let’s go back.”

This later became a TV series of the same title in the late 80s, and then some more feature films hit, as well as another quick series in the 2000s.
