A clown (Murray) rides on the subway, complete with a bundle of balloons. His goal? A downtown New York bank. He appears to be three minutes late, as the security officer is closing the front door. A quick gun pull makes him re-open it however. The clown is also strapped with dynamite on his chest and makes it clear he is robbing the place.
He steps inside and informs the large bank that it is indeed a robbery, but no one takes him seriously. So, he blasts off a shot to show he means business. Nobody move!! After a successful cash grab, he faces a tough getaway as the cops roll in. A threat to use the dynamite keeps everyone inside and out on edge.
The hostages are locked in the bank vault. The cops circle the institution, looking to save the people and the money from this crazy clown. Try to run, he won’t get five feet. How will our… uhhh… hero (??) make it outta here with his cash stash? It seems unlikely.
Well, let’s just suppose he does get out with the loot. Maybe that is just the beginning of the challenges, as this thief will learn maybe the bank heist is the easy part. As trials and tribulations begin, so come tests of wits and patience.
Quick Change lets the jokes fly left and right along with its plot beats. The cast is quite solid and the story is good enough to keep its short runtime moving along. The dialogue is fresh and remains quirky and funny even decades after its release. It is an entertaining time with lots of silliness and fun, while leaning into its over-the-top nature.
